Linux on my Thinkpad and other things

Okay so I think I am coming quite close to setting a record [in some conveniently chosen sample space, of course :-) ] – my Thinkpad running RedHat Linux 7.3 has gone without a reboot or shutdown for 37 days now! Very nice indeed, considering that at one time, Thinkpads were notorious for causing lockups with Linux and X in particular.

[ravi@raj ravi]$ uptime
 10:36am up 37 days, 1:25, 2 users, load average: 0.31, 0.44, 0.42

If you own a laptop and run Linux on it, please do leave a comment stating the maximum uptime you have seen. We can all have a nice competition here :-)

Hmm, so onto other things. I just got in this morning after dropping my car off at the Fireston center on Forsyth. They are going to do the state inspection and check the brakes because they seem to behave in a slightly funny manner. After that the only thing that remains is to get my vehicle registered and we are done !

Last night was fun. After music class at Swapna’s place [where I did decently inspite of being quite irregular with practice], Vidya and I came home and then took my car for a small spin. Nonda and Booze joined us too and soon we were all driving around having a good time :-) I think I am too much in love with my car !

Not the most younger-brotherly first comment!
The verb form is ‘practise’! What you meant back there with the music is ‘practice’!
Say hello to the as yet unnamed car. I know what you mean because I’ve relinquished that feeling. I was driving around campus for a few days. Then Nanna came back to Madras and now I’m just another pedestrian, too absorbed in his singing to even stick his thumb out! Life is otherwise good. This is my substitute for an email.

Okay R, the spelling is fixed :-) Trust you to come and correct my grammar ;-)

I will say hello to the car and even take some pictures soon. I have been thinking about what I should name the car but I can’t seem to come up with anything definite yet. Maybe a day or two more :-)
