Say no to the war on Iraq

I came across this chilling account of what is going on in Baghdad. Skeptics might say that it is rhetoric but disagree. I firmly believe that the US should not go to war and reading this just made me reaffirm my position.

Letters from Baghdad

Are our voices even heard ?

The situation is indeed sad, i.e. the iraqis not taking Saddam out before the Bush Administration does, C’mon – surely if all the Iraqis banded together, they would be able to take him and his entire family out. For god sakes, that is what they do in uncivilized dictatorships….

Well, in the civilized world, we let the president use all the guile he can (given that he cannot even say ‘nuclear’ right) to pursuade congress to give him a blanc carte! ;-) My, don’t you wonder, where we would be without democracy?

    God Bless America!

I dont know if you know anybody from iraq personally. I have a lot of friends from iraq, and all of them are for war. Its more like a vaccination, where some people suffer, but majority of iraqis are liberated from the oppressive regime. its very easy to read the media or wires on the internet and come to conclusions. it takes more that that to realize the dynamics of the situation.

yes, it is easy to read the media wires…but it is equally important to see the consequences of the war on the middle-east. malnourishment, death, and isolation in iraq, not to mention a never-ending battle between israel and palestine..has the isolationist policy served us well? where is this liberationist policy going to end? the world has become more complicated since reagan claimed the end of the ‘evil’ communist regimes…

there is no question among peace activists that saddam hussein’s regime is not democratic, but is war the only solution? it may seem prudent to vaccinate the region against saddam, but that is only the symptom of a larger phenomenon. while military action may seem the right thing to do, in terms of bringing peace and democracy, but it is equally important to look at the consequence of one’s actions….

i am still puzzled as to how did we make a jump from osama to saddam? i don’t think the question is just simply about usa vs. iraq…it is about kashmir, it is about tibet, and war has still not solved anything for us….
