A bit of a breather

There are many who have expressed a general disappointment that the frequency with which I am writing my blog has gone down considerably. While understanding your general frustration at not being able to read new literary pieces by me [;-)] all I can say at the moment is that this usually happens towards the end of a semester when all of a sudden there is a proliferation of deadlines coupled with the realization that your current state in each course makes those deadlines that much harder to make :-) Anyway, yesterday was one such deadline – Anand and I had to make a presentation about all the stuff we had been upto in the Data Security course and that went off well so here I am, with some time to spare, writing my latest entry :-)

So what was I upto last week ? Since last weekend was really long thanks to Thanksgiving [we had 5 days off! I haven't even heard of something like that here in the US ;-) ], Vidye and I made our first solo road trip to Chicago. We rented an awesome Saturn L200 [thanks to a free upgrade and a nice weekend deal] from Enterprise and did the distance in a good 5 hours. Vidye drove mostly at an average 65 mph while I did more around 75 going to a maximium of 92 mph ! The interesting thing is that inspite of all that fast driving, I did manage to miss an exit at precisely the right time and then, after taking another two exits later, ended up completely lost. After some frantic phone calling and smart thinking, we managed to get back on track but not without losing some good time and incurring Ms. Vidya’s displeasure :-)

I had the most amazing time in Chicago with Vidya, Priya [Vidya's elder sister], Rohit [Priya's husband] and Karan [their cute one year old son :-) ]. Since this was the first time I was in Chicago, I was taken around the place – Lakeshore drive, Michigan Avenue, Chicago River etc etc. We even watched ‘The Lord of The Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring’ – a movie which ended up greatly fascinating me and in understanding which, all of us had serious discussions :-) I even had the honour of babysitting Karan along with Vidya, one evening when Priya and Rohit went out to watch a movie by themselves but it is debatable if I spent more time pacifying Karan or Vidya herself who panicked everytime Karan got upset ;-) Just kidding, she is quite adept in these matters !

Anyway so it’s back to the grind and it is just another week before it all comes to an end. Vidya leaves for India on Dec and I leave on Dec 27 :-) Hoooray!
